My Coaching Credo

What I love about being Canada’s first certified creativity coach is that it offers me a more wholistic approach to helping writers fulfill their dreams.

Creativity coaching takes into account every aspect of a writer’s creative life, including the psychological, emotional, existential, and practical problems that arise when you face – or avoid facing – the blank page or screen.

In the words of my mentor, Dr. Eric Maisel, “A creativity coach invites you to think hard, feel deeply, dream big, and be great. A creativity coach invites you to manifest your potential. A creativity coach asks you to step up to the plate and live a vital, authentic life... honoring (your) need to do work that is deep and grand.”

As powerful as that need is, there is an equally powerful force deadly determined to annihilate it. Freud called it a Death Wish; Steven Pressfield calls it Resistance. “How many of us have become drunks and drug addicts, developed tumours and neuroses, succumbed to painkillers, gossip, and compulsive cell phone use, simply because we don’t do that thing that our hearts, our inner genius, is calling us to?”

Thanks to Resistance, we creative people need more than big dreams. We also need to warrior up. As your creativity Coach, I am both your wing mate, keeping you inspired and airborne, doing the work you long to do, and your doula, helping your writerly dreams find their place in this world.
